Limpsfield Parish Council was delighted to welcome
Michael Tinker as its newest member last month.
Michael, a resident of Limpsfield Chart, was formally
co-opted at the March meeting following the
resignation of Sophie Kemp. Already an active
member of the local community, Michael brings
fresh enthusiasm to the Council, a focus on the
Chart, plus an interest in local history and the local
environment. You can learn more about him on our
website and in our latest newsletter, which should be
arriving through your letterbox soon.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined our
first-ever Seed Swap Sundays, hosted by Councillor
Jenny Williams and Limpsfield Biodiversity Corner’s
Naomi P. The event was a great success, with many
seeds swapped between residents. Remaining seeds
are now available for free at Memorial Stores. We
hope to make this an annual tradition, helping local
gardens flourish year after year.
Biodiversity starts at home! Even small actions in our
gardens can make a big difference for local wildlife.
An updated biodiversity planner is available on the
Limpsfield Biodiversity Corner webpage as well as
on page 45 of this Issue. Keep an eye out for new
posters and information in the old bus shelter on
Detillens Lane or visit limpsfieldsurrey.com to get
involved.
As part of our ongoing environmental initiatives, we
recently provided Limpsfield Grange School with
three swift boxes, expertly crafted by the talented
Men in Sheds at The Woodhouse Centre. Swifts,
whose distinctive calls are a hallmark of summer,
are sadly on the conservation Red List, with a 62%
population decline since 1995. Boxes have already
been installed at St Peter’s, and we hope to install
boxes at The Carpenter’s Arms and St Andrew’s to
encourage residents to consider putting up their
own swift boxes to support these wonderful birds.
The Parish Council is proud to continue supporting
local events and services, including The Chart Fair,
Limpsfield Village Fete, the Kent, Surrey & Sussex
Air Ambulance, Oxted First Responders (who
maintain defibrillators around Limpsfield), Limpsfield
in Bloom, and the
Citizens Advice
Bureau.
Help Replace Our
Stolen Horse Trough
Last August, in broad
daylight, Limpsfield’s
historic horse trough
was stolen from its
long-standing spot
at the corner of
Detillens Lane and the
A25. Despite strong
evidence, police
investigations have
not led to its recovery.
We are now working
to commission a
high-quality replica,
complete with the
original inscriptions,
to restore this piece
of local heritage. Unfortunately, insurance will not
fully cover the cost, so we are asking for community
support to help fund the replacement and secure
installation. If you’d like to contribute, please visit
our GoFundMe page at gofundme.com/f/replace-
our-stolen-historic-horse-trough.
Diary Date: Annual Parish Meeting – 8th May
All Limpsfield residents and business owners are
warmly invited to our Annual Parish Meeting on
Thursday 8th May at St Andrew’s Hall on Limpsfield
Chart, starting at 7.30pm. This is a fantastic
opportunity to hear about the Council’s recent work,
raise any issues or questions, and meet your Parish,
District, and County Councillors. Refreshments will
be provided—we hope to see you there!
