Sing it out this
December in Oxted!
This December, Love Oxted is
continuing the Christmas festivities
in Oxted with some live music on
Saturday afternoons and much
more besides!
Festive live music Saturdays: On
7th December, the fabulous “Sing
it Out” ladies will be singing their
hearts out to festive tunes from
1PM. Did you catch their Fairytale
of Oxted last year? Absolutely
brilliant. You’ll find them outside
Boots. They’re always looking
for new members too... On 14th
December, it’s the turn of the Oxted
Musical Theatre Company’s Oxted
team who’ll be carolling their way
around Oxted.
Then for all those little Oxted
princesses, we’ll be
hosting a Fairytale Christmas
afternoon on 21st December with
Character Parties with Bee. Come
along and meet Elsa, Anna and
Belle, and join them for some
activities and songs. Bring your little
princesses in their Disney dress-up!
1-2.30PM, outside Boots.
Small Business Saturday: As per
the separate article, 7th December
is Small Business Saturday, so
please make sure you make an
extra special effort to help small,
local business this month and do all
your Christmas shopping in Oxted
and Limpsfield!
JingleBell Village is back on
Master Park: The reindeer, Santa
and his helpers are back on Master
Park again on 14th and 15th
December. Opening hours are from
10:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Entry is free,
but you need to reserve a spot in
advance for Santa’s Grotto and
other Christmas crafting activities.

Master Park Roundabout: It took
a long time (initial representations
were made pre-Covid!), but we
are very happy to see that the
refurbishment of the roundabout
at Master Park, gateway to Oxted
town centre’s west side, has now
been completed and is a huge
improvement to its former state!
The project was spearheaded by
Oxted Parish Council and Surrey
County Councillor, Cameron
McIntosh, and co-funded through
OPC’s Community Infrastructure
Levy fund with Surrey County
Council. Cllr McIntosh’s local
budget funded the kerbing
works and design, while Love
Oxted funded the new heritage
lamppost for the centre of the
roundabout and organised the
re-planting, having successfully
applied for a small grant from
Councillor Cameron McIntosh’s
Your Councillor Community
Fund. The plants will continue
to evolve in the spring, and we
hope that the roundabout can
now be viewed as a positive
feature of the town centre. A
great team effort!
Ellice Road car park toilets
refurbishment:
Refurbishment for the Ellice Road
car park toilets will be ongoing
throughout December. This is
not the greatest timing over the
Christmas period, but Tandridge
District Council has a long list of
works to complete, which must fit
in with contractors. The general
improvement of the area includes
a new Oxted Parish Council
noticeboard and new fencing,
and Love Oxted is also hoping to
fund further improvements, such
as seating, planters and better
signage.
Love Oxted will also be undertaking
a project to paint and repair the
pedestrian crossing railings on
Station Road East, Station Road
West, Bluehouse Lane/Station Road
East roundabout and to spruce up
miscellaneous posts on both sides
of the town. All in the spirit of
making Oxted a lovely place to live,
shop, eat, drink and do business.
A warm welcome: Don’t forget
that as well as a Super Access
Library, Oxted Library is also an
official “Warm Welcome Venue”.
If you’re in need of a safe place to
keep cosy, have a warm drink, do
a puzzle, read a book or just sit
quietly with or without company,
then please drop in and make use
of your local Library. The staff are
lovely and welcoming too!
In remembrance: We were very
sad to hear the news that Gerard
O’Brien, the platform manager
of Oxted Station, passed away at
his home in August, aged 59. He
was a well-known figure at Oxted
Station having worked there for 15
years, taking care of the station’s
customers, as well as his beloved
plants. Our heartfelt condolences
to Gerard’s colleagues, family and
friends.
