We hope you had a lovely
Christmas and New Year with your
family and friends.
After a very wet, windy and bleak
December with many Christmas
events sadly falling victim to the
elements, in Oxted town centre
we are revived and ready to take
on 2025 with renewed vigour! We
are very lucky to live in a fantastic
town with a thriving high street,
great restaurants, cafés and bars
and it’s no surprise that Oxted has
made Muddy Stilettos’ Top 10 Best
Places to Live in Surrey in 2025,
in partnership with Knight Frank
estate agents.
We are delighted to welcome The
Card Factory, now in situ, and
Harbourfields, the new owners of
Oxted’s longstanding fish and chip
shop, previously owned by Deep
Blue. Harbourfields Oxted is their
second shop after Tunbridge Wells,
and they aim to expand further
in 2025. Having been bought as a
going concern, the staff in Oxted
are pretty much all the same as
before, so please make sure you go
and show your support for the new
venture and try their new eat-in
breakfast as well as the fish and
chips!
Very happy to hear that Brisk
Burgers will be reopening this
month, with a makeover of their
Station Road East premises and
serving top quality Smash Burgers
and Neapolitan Sourdough Pizzas.
What’s a smash burger we hear
you ask? Well, a regular burger
is pre-shaped into a thick patty
before cooking and is flipped a
couple of times whereas a smash
burger is like taking a raw meatball
and pressing it down with a burger
press to make it extra thin with a
crispy crust. YUM.
We are also happy to see the new
baby of Bru & Bear, “The Other
Side”, is proving to be a popular
destination on a Friday evening.
The lovely folk at Bru & Bear have
extended their rear “garden”
area by taking over the space
behind Timpson, to create another
fabulous indoor/outdoor patio
style space, with a big pizza oven,
serving laid back beers, wine and
delicious hand-crafted pizzas.
Another new development in
Oxted has been the re-opening
of Oxted Desserts & Crafts, with
its craft room at the back, proving
to be very popular indeed. And if
you didn’t already know, after a
long time preparing to go, plus
a short-lived move over the road
to IG Equine, the lease transfer
for the former Mint Boutique fell
through and Nicky and MINT are
back where they belong in their
New Year, new reasons to
LOVE OXTED!
with them if you are interested.
In exciting news, there will be a
new development replacing the
buildings opposite Waitrose,
now owned by Regency & Co
property developers, who will
be developing the site soon for
mixed use - residential above and
commercial premises, including
retail opportunities below. What
businesses would you like to
see in Oxted? Do you know any
small businesses, particularly
retail, who might be interested in
moving in? Please contact Nick
or David at G&P Property - info@
gpcommercial.co.uk who are acting
on behalf of the developers.
This year we’re aiming to continue
to welcome musicians and singers
on our high street on regular
Saturday afternoons. There’s
nothing like a bit of music to
enhance the atmosphere, so if
you are a musician, singer, band
member or know someone who
might like to showcase their talents,
please contact us at marketing@
loveoxted.co.uk or via @loveoxted.
We’ll also be running more trails
and special days for Easter, Surrey
Day (10 May), Summer Fiesta and
Halloween, as well as Christmas - so
fingers crossed the weather plays
ball this year!
Please continue to support
independent retailers and
small businesses on your local
high street. It’s so important to
#shoplocal.
