St. Mary’s is fortunate to have a colony of swifts
that return each year to nest in the eaves of the
south side of the church. They can be clearly seen
and heard and provide entertaining performances
as they dive and swoop around the church. To
encourage more swifts two purpose built nesting
boxes have been installed under the south facing
eaves of the Community Hall.
Throughout the day refreshments with delicious
cakes will be served in the tower vestry and in the
afternoon there will be the added
attraction of cream teas being served.
If the weather is fine teas will be served
outside the tower where there will also
be some plants on sale.
Entry to the day is free although
contributions towards costs are always
welcome.
June 7th marks the start of the Churches
Count on Nature and Love your Burial
Ground Week with Caring for God’s
Acre. St. Mary’s will be joining in with
the Week when a series of webinars will
be shown on a variety of topics featuring different
aspects of land and nature. The webinars which will
all start at 12 noon will be shown in The Space in
Oxted Community Hall and are open to all.
Details of all these activities are available on the
