We have
around 30
members plus
a wonderful
group of
volunteers.
Our volunteers
help us in
many ways,
for example,
listening to readers
in local schools, or supporting us at our larger events like our
annual Oxted Boot Fair on Master Park and Santa’s Sleigh. If right now isn’t the right time for you to
think about joining as a member, maybe you could consider joining us for a few hours of your time on an
occasional basis.

Forty Years of
Titsey Rotary Club
On 19 May this year we will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Titsey Rotary Club.
Originally there was only one Rotary Club in Oxted who met every week at lunchtime. A group of members
found this inconvenient and founded our club, Rotary Club of Titsey and District, so that they could meet in
the evening. Forty years ago, when it was founded, Titsey Rotary Club was a male only club for businessmen,
as all clubs were at that time, and meetings were very formal and always included a meal.
Fast forward to today, and male-only clubs are a
thing of the past along with the formalities and
meal nights. Everyone is welcome – Rotary is not a
religious or political organisation and we welcome
people with any faith or belief – or none.
We are a very informal group of friendly people who
enjoy each other’s company. Our motto is ‘Having
Fun - Helping People’. Titsey Rotary Club’s calendar
is always filled with fundraising events and service
projects in the community, as well as lots of social
events.
For less than the price of a cup of coffee a week,
joining is not a big financial commitment and there are no other ongoing financial obligations.
If you’re interested in finding out more about us, why not come along to some of our meetings or events
and ask to join if you like what you see? We don’t look for any particular skill-set in our members. All we
need is your enthusiasm.
You don’t have to be invited to attend our meetings – just come along. We usually meet at 7.30 for 8.00 pm
on a Wednesday evening in the Garden Room at the Carpenter’s Arms, Limpsfield Chart, RH8 0TG. If you
are thinking of visiting us, just drop us a line via the website www.titsey.org.uk so that we are ready to
welcome you.
Rotary as it used to be
