Volunteering opportunities
If you have a bit of time on your hands, and want
to do your bit and meet people, there are lots of
Limpsfield-based organisations that would love
to benefit from some of your time, energy and
enthusiasm! Here are just a few of them:

Limpsfield Community Orchard, Grub Street -
working groups over the year
•
Limpsfield Memorial Stores - regular
volunteering opportunities in the shop

Limpsfield in Bloom - working groups in the
spring
•
Oxted & District Link Association –
opportunities for phone help and drivers
•
The Bull Inn - regular volunteer days
•
National Trust Friends of Limpsfield Common -
litter picking, woodland management, help with
open days and fundraising activities
A Wassailing We Go…
Sunday 19th January 2025
January is the month for the Limpsfield Community
Orchard’s Wassail, an annual traditional that revolves
around drinking and singing to bless the orchards
to ensure a good harvest for the year to come. This
Anglo-Saxon celebration, involving music, song and
dancing, traditionally took place on Twelfth Night.
It’s always great fun and something different to do
on a wintry Sunday afternoon!
4.30pm - Assemble inside Limpsfield British Legion
5.30pm - Torchlit procession through the woods to
the Orchard for cider, toast and salt to the King Tree
to ensure a good harvest.
Bring a torch and a mug, also rattles, drums,
whistles, tins; anything to make a loud noise to ward
off bad spirits.
Wear footwear suitable for walking through muddy
woods. Warm and waterproof clothing - the more
colourful, the better. Mulled cider and apple juice
around the bonfire and a singalong.
Everyone is welcome. This is a family-friendly event.
Limited parking. Please only bring a car if necessary.
Donations very welcome to help us cover costs.
