Monday 25th August – Luke
Haines (The Auteurs) & Peter
Buck (R.E.M.) w/ Minus 5
opening at the Barn Theatre.
Luke Haines was a leading light of the UK’s 90s alternative rock scene,
first with The Auteurs and then with Black Box Recorder. Since 2000 he
has released numerous solo albums, two memoirs and a cookbook, as
well as having a documentary made about him.
Peter Buck was, for 31 years, the guitarist for American alternative rock
stars R.E.M. The band, co-founded by Buck in 1980, sold tens of millions
of albums; and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
The group amicably disbanded in 2011, since which Buck has played in
numerous bands, including Filthy Friends.
Haines and Buck have released two albums to date, and the duo’s
third album “Going Down To The River... To Blow My Mind” is out on
25th July. Recorded in Portland, Oregon, the album also features Scott
McCaughey (The Minus 5) and Linda Pitmon (Filthy Friends), both of
whom will be joining the tour. The McCaughey led Minus 5 will open
the evening, with their signature concoction of garage-pop rock.
