Spooky goings-
on in Oxted this
October
We’re really looking forward to a busy month
this October, culminating of course with Spooky
Saturday Halloween fun and all the brilliant
Halloween shop windows.
After the fun we had last year, Love Oxted will once
again be hosting a Spooky Saturday on October
26th, from 1-4pm with live music, Halloween
Trail, street entertainment and characters plus
kids activities, shop specials, plus Halloween shop
window competition. Come along with the kids,
dress up and you might win a prize!
The Woodhouse Centre will also be holding a half
term Halloween from Monday 28th to Thursday 31st
October 10am-12.30pm for ages 7-12.
This month, we have two great new businesses
opening in Oxted as well as the new incarnation of
our much-loved former Dessert Spot:
Hacker & Plummer, aka Georgie Hacker and Ushma
Plummer are independent optometrists who are now
open in the former Oxted Florist building next to
Job’s of Oxted on Station Road West. The ladies are
very much looking forward to meeting everyone, so
why not pop in to see them and try on some funky
frames ahead of booking an appointment for an eye
test.
The Well Life
Clinic has now
finished its fit-
out opposite
Sainsbury’s and is
ready to take your
requests for all
kinds of appointments from general lifestyle to
women’s health and men’s health, management
of joint and back pain, genetic screening, weight
management programs and screening for ADHD and
autism.
You will have noticed that Dessert Spot on Station
Road West has been closed for a while, due to family
circumstances. BUT we’re really happy to say that
our favourite ice cream parlour will be re-opening in
October with new ownership and a new name, new
menu items and activities (including a craft room
and afternoon teas) but the same great desserts
and treats. We wish them all the best and hope
everything goes well.
Despite officially closing the doors of Mint Boutique,
Nicky Bond, has decided she’s not quite ready
to leave Oxted and will be opening a concession
next to Tender Trap Lingerie in the basement
(formerly the vault of Lloyds Bank!) of our wonderful
destination store, IG Equine! “Mint in the Vault”
will be open Thursday to Saturday 10am-5pm until
further notice. Nicky’s customers are of course
chuffed to bits and glad to know she’ll still be selling
her lovely colourful clothing and accessories. Pop in
and say hello.
The Friends of St Mary’s Party in the Playground
- 20th October will feature a range of thrilling
children’s activities, including bungee trampolines,
bumper carz, a tea cup ride, and three classic
fairground games, as well as a bar, sweets, burgers,
and hot drinks available. The event will be topped
off with two spectacular laser shows, compered by
Dancing Beans, who will also host a raffle where one
lucky winner will press the button to kick off the
show! Any businesses wishing to sponsor or donate
prizes for the raffle should contact Jessica at pta@
stmarysprimary.org.
The Ginistry, as usual, has a whole month of
entertainment lined up for your enjoyment, for
Live music to Rockeoke, Open Mic Night, Cockney
Singalong and Gin and Drag!
Just FYI, Love Oxted’s family Christmas event
this year will be Saturday, 23rd November in the
afternoon, culminating in the Christmas Lights
switch on at 5pm. We will have some fabulous street
entertainment, Santa’s Grotto etc.
And on that note, Happy October!
